Wedding Photography - Get the Best

Wedding photography, possibly a close second to the dress, is the most critical part of the wedding. The photos will be your memories for decades and so making the right choice here can’t be stressed enough - no pressure! Fortunately there will be many wedding photographers to choose from and all you need do is ensure you cover some of these important steps.

Referrals

The first thing you need to do is to find the names of several photographers. This is easily done by looking on the internet or in the phone book but it is much wiser to get the names from people who have had experiences with the photographers.  Wedding photography is a specialized type of photography and not just any photographer is qualified.

Once the names are acquired you need to set up appointments to look at the work the photographer has already done, get price quotes and to see if they are available for the desired date. Also, it would be good to get the names of several references for the photographer. You should carefully examine all the information and choose the best wedding photographer available.

Protecting your memories

The photographer should offer a contract defining what the service provided will include.  This contract needs to be carefully read.  When dealing with a photography company sometimes there are several photographers available.  The contract should specify who will be taking the pictures for the wedding.  Another concern is making sure enough time is allotted for the wedding photography. No one wants the wedding photographer dictating the schedule of the wedding day.

Time

The photographer should allow enough time for you to proceed through the day as you desire.  It is also important that the photographer know what type of pictures you want. Duh. Taking the time in advance to select some types of pictures will ensure that you get what you want.

Just in Case!

When deciding on professional wedding photography, you must understand that no matter how well things are planned there can be problems with the pictures. Sometimes the photographer will have an equipment malfunction beyond his control or some other horrible problem.

It’s a good idea to make sure you have back up. Firstly check that the photographer will have backup equipment where possible or access to someone who does. Secondly, have someone who has some photographic skills who is attending the wedding also take photos. Your wedding photos are one area where you can’t be too careful.

Wedding Ideas Inspired By Your Cultures

April 29th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

When it comes to wedding ideas there are infinite possibilities to creating your ‘happy ever after’ fairy tale. But where do you start? What wedding idea do you go with? Who decides?

The answer to these questions may be in choosing your cultures as the basis for your wedding ideas

This special day is the day that you visually show the world that your love is unique, special and lifelong.  When planning the special day, taking time to ensure that every tiny detail is in place will transform a memorable occasion into a spectacular event.

The most important part of a marriage is the coming together of two lives to become one.  In this way, it is valuable to take pieces from your personal history and utilize it in planning the wedding ideas such as decorations, invitations, speeches, music and the wedding ceremony itself.  If you’re from different heritages, research both cultures and discover what is important from your family and childhood that you would like to include in the ceremony.

A Scottish Flare Makes for a Unique Wedding Idea

For example, if the bride or groom has Scottish roots, a great wedding idea would be to have the bride and groom leave the ceremony to the sounds of a bagpipe musician.  This would follow Scottish tradition and highlight the family heritage for all of the guests to recognize and enjoy.

Many Black American Weddings Utilize African Culture In Their Ceremony

Another wedding idea that is gaining in popularity in wedding ceremonies is the tradition of  “jumping the broom”.  In the Western African tradition, the broom is symbolic of sweeping away past mistakes and evil spirits.  It was believed that by sweeping a broom over the heads of the bride and groom, the evil spirits could be warded off and thus the two would share a happy marriage.

In the days of slavery, marriage between slaves was illegal.  Many of the slaves came from African cultures that held a strong belief in ceremonial practices and the importance of a recognized union of marriage.  With this in mind, they created the concept of taking marriage vows in front of witnesses and then jumping over a broom handle to recognize the union. “Jumping of the broom” became the wedding ceremony that allowed their union to be recognized by their peers but undetected by their masters.

Whatever ideas you choose for your wedding, whether they be centered around your cultures or not, should have at the heart of them your own unique style and character. The day after all belongs to you.

Would You Want to Hire a Wedding Planner?

April 28th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

You may the kind of person who thrives on being a part of every little detail when it comes to your wedding. For most though, it’s a chore that can be stressful. Enter, wedding planners.

For some, it might seem like getting a wedding planner takes away the fun of working out all the details of a wedding, but in fact, these people can put the fun back into the process. If you’re not sure about whether you should get a wedding planner, you should know about the benefits they provide.

Consultant, Advisers and ‘Therapists’

Wedding planners are consultants, skilled in working out the details of a wedding, calculating costs, and executing the final plan. This does not, however, mean that they will make all the decisions for you. On the contrary, a good wedding planner will keep you involved in the process, helping to point you in the right direction for options to consider and suggesting things that might work well with your own idea of a perfect wedding.

And many wedding planners would admit to being a shoulder to cry on when mother and daughter can’t agree on what flowers or cake should be bought;-)

Getting the Best Deal in Town

While some people might balk at the idea of getting a wedding planner because it costs money to hire a consultant, you should consider the fact that a wedding planner can save you money on your wedding. As a planner develops their business, they learn where to get better products, such as your wedding flowers, dresses, and reception locations, for less money. Furthermore, wedding planners learn to be skilled in negotiation, both through dealing with demanding customers and in trying to purchase products and services, so they might be able to talk service providers down to a good deal for you.

Quite Simply, They have Experience

Ultimately, what a wedding planner will bring to your wedding plans is experience. No matter how great your ideas are, no matter how enthusiastic you are about the process of planning a wedding, a wedding planner still brings experience in planning many more weddings than most have planned in their lifetimes. By utilizing the experience that these consultants have, you’ll find that the process of planning your wedding comes with fewer mishaps, fewer mistakes, and a greater focus on the relationship of you and your future spouse. And ultimately, that’s what really matters.

Using a wedding planner to help with your wedding doesn’t take you out of the unique experience of planning your wedding, but simply makes it more efficient. Their role is to make sure you have the wedding day of your dreams - no mess no fuss!

Taking the Stress Out of Your Wedding Planning

April 28th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

With so many things to plan, people to accommodate and budgets to be adhered to, wedding planning can be pretty stressful. It’s a time that can be overwhelming for both bride and groom, which is totally unnecessary. There are literally millions of people who have gone thru the same thing and you can learn from their mistakes.

The first thing to reduce wedding planning stress is to stop taking advice from everyone else. The wedding is about the bride and groom and they should be making the decisions and choosing the vendors. If someone else is paying for the wedding, then it is only fair to include his or her input into the planning, but otherwise it is unnecessary to accommodate anyone else as far as the actual planning of the event is concerned. However, it is still proper to accommodate the special needs of some guests and out of town guests.

Once you realize it’s Your special day and that you’re in control of it, your wedding planning will be much easier.

One Option is to Choose a Wedding Package

One of the best ways to reduce wedding planning stress is to choose a reception location that offers wedding packages. These packages often include contracts with other vendors including bakeries, limousine services, florists, and photographers. These contracts are taken care of by the reception site and the bride and groom simply visit the vendor and choose what they want. There is no deposit to be made since the reception site will pay the balance once the bride and groom pay the reception site. This can reduce wedding planning stress immensely.

See the Bigger Picture and Plan Ahead

wedding planning stress can be avoided if the bride and groom plan carefully. The sooner the vendors are chosen and confirmed, the more time the bride and groom will have to focus on other tasks. wedding planning does not need to take control of their lives. All major plans should be made as soon as possible since the best sites and vendors are booked early. Then, the bride and groom can put their attention into the details. This will reduce the last minute stress caused by wedding planning.

Look, your wedding day is going to be a stressful one no matter what because it’s something you’ve probably been dreaming of your whole life and you’ll want every thing to be perfect. Your wedding planning should however not become such a burden that you forget the reason you’re both doing this in the first place.

3 Simple Ideas for Wedding Centerpieces

April 20th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

There are so many little details that need to be taken care of during your wedding planning from finding the perfect invitations, organizing the ceremony and planning the perfect wedding reception. And every little tiny detail is just as important as the next.

When brainstorming ideas for your wedding centerpieces it’s worthwhile remembering that these can add significantly to the ambience of the reception and of course the entire day. Centerpieces should be more than just some ornament on each table.

Sometimes the best wedding centerpieces are the sort that can be consumed, such as edible wedding favors, bottles of wine, or decorative cakes. A candy bouquet, for instance, can be just as brightly colored as a flower bouquet, but offer something for the taste buds instead of for the nose. Rather than a vase filled with brightly-colored stones to make a centerpiece, you can have a vase with brightly-wrapped chocolates and give your guests something to snack on.

Watch any Hollywood movie with a wedding in it and you’ll notice the elegant use of flowers as the core of the wedding centerpieces.  It’s hard to go wrong with a bouquet of flowers as a centerpiece, since flowers can offer both color and fragrance to a table.  Once you have flowers and a vase, you have a base to create any number of decorative centerpieces using feathers, non-flowering plants, and other embellishments. This choice is simple and should be easy to pull off especially since there are so many unique arrangements you can choose from.

Candles as wedding centerpieces are a popular choice for some and can either be added to a flower arrangement or take its place. What is also useful about having candles is that you could choose scented ones. Although you need to ensure that if you do that the scent is not overpowering. You wouldn’t want some awful odor hanging in the air during your reception.

Combine your wedding favors with your wedding centerpieces for instance can create a way to personalize each table for your guests. Little bags of candy or other favors can surround a single centerpiece, creating something that looks great with the favors there and still looks beautiful once your guests have taken their wedding favors.

Just remember to see the bigger picture in your wedding planning. The centerpiece idea you go with may look amazing and ideal in a picture or on one table but make sure the one or the combination you choose works to your satisfaction.

Wedding Vows

April 9th, 2008    Subscribe To Our Feed

Writing your own wedding vows using your faith as a guide can add more meaning to them. After all your commitment to one another is in body, mind and soul. Your wedding vows echo your unwavering commitment to a love shared with the one person who will be witness to your life.

A couple may enlist the help of their religious leader when writing their vows and although there may be variations in the various ceremonies, reference to their beliefs will come through.

During a Jewish wedding ceremony, the couples will exchange vows when the rings are exchanged. Commitment to one another hallowed by the faith of Israel.

In the Muslim wedding ceremony, the bride and the groom sit apart from each other and commit to one another, answering in the affirmative three times and then signing the marriage contract.

At the heart of Buddhist wedding vows is meditation and contemplation. The couple share their love, dedication and future hopes based on their shared beliefs. There is pledge to help each other develop their hearts and minds while growing in dharma.

Often an enormous and disproportionate amount of time and energy goes into planning the engagement, the engagement party, the wedding dress, cake, invitations and of course the wedding itself that so many couples forget the true meaning of taking this leap, no matter what religious faith or believe you have, is about your eternal commitment to one another.

Bare in mind that your vows are a promise to love, honor, and appreciate each over the course of the life you will share together. Writing your wedding vows can be a personal spiritual journey regardless of what religious beliefs you hold.
